"George" about to turn into a pupa.
A caterpillar turned into a pupa today! We watched it wiggle (do the pupa dance), lose its skin and spin itself into a chrysalis. We also have two other pupas and 8 caterpillars! Unfortunately, we think one of our caterpillars died today. We are also giving a caterpillar to Ms. Berry and to Mrs. Prosper (over at NG). Perhaps some of us can look for eggs or "cats" at home.

One of our cats taken last week, on Thursday.
Just a quick update on our monarchs. We now have 2 butterflies, 2 pupas and 8 caterpillars. Jake and Devon both found cats this weekend and brought them into class for us to raise. Rachel's pupa should be emerging within the next day or so. The pupa, "George", which was created the first day of school, should emerge by Wednesday or Thursday (according to our calculations). Our cats grew from a mere 26 mm to 44 over the weekend! Please feel free to drop by and see our "cats" and "flies" before or after school. It really is an exciting process which I would love to share with all of you. I am not sure what shall be on "display" for Meet the Teacher night on the 20th, so come in while you can.
